What is MLM? Choosing Your MLM
Sponsor.
So,
you've selected the company that is going to be a fit for
you, now what about a sponsor. Chances are if you are
here, you are already somewhat "seasoned" in Network
Marketing and may have a good idea what you want and
expect in a sponsor.
So, you may
be "sponsor shopping." This is
defined as researching and interviewing potential sponsors
based on your criteria. Nothing wrong with this, as this is a
business decision, after all.
Here are
some things to keep in mind.
First, be
sure to choose your sponsor wisely. Previously in Network
Marketing, people signed up under a friend or family member who
introduced the opportunity. This sounds great, but there is
often a problem with this - most friends and family members
don't have the business skills needed or know how to market and
guide you to the success you need.
And,
there is nothing wrong with signing up under your friend/family
member. This could be lots of fun as you build success
together. Just check upline further and see what is available
to you for training and support.
The
Internet has changed all of that and allows you to thoroughly
research and interview potential candidates as your
sponsor.
Some
questions to ask –
What is your system of training me? What are
the first steps you'll take me
through?
Ask and be very
clear about the kind of marketing methods the sponsor
uses, because this will most likely what you'll be taught and
coached on. So, make certain it's in alignment with what
you want to do and what you are looking for. The right home
based business leader will make sure you have online and
offline marketing solutions that you can use. Solutions that
attract people to you and have them chasing you to join your
business are best.
Are there tools in place to take
advantage of the power of the Internet? Online business
building is a powerful thing to add to your
toolbox.
Each company has their own
ideas and opinions on the use of the Internet. Some are very
open to the concept; others do not like or allow any type of
online marketing. Check out the policies
first.
What is their position in the company? It's not
necessary that he/she be at the top of the compensation plan,
but make sure the experience, knowledge and skills are in
place.
Make sure
there are tools and resources in place to support and train
you.
How
accessible is he/she? Do they answer their phone? Call
back?
Who is
upline from this person? If you need additional support, are
there others who will assist?
What are their leadership skills? Team
vision?
Have they
developed other leaders on the team?
Are
you being pushed hard to join? Or are they more interested in
getting you the answers you need to make an informed, confident
decision?
Your
success won't depend on your sponsor alone. You can do it with
or without a strong sponsor. But, the right choice sure can
shorten the learning curve.
Above all,
be clear about what you bring to the table.
Are you seriously committed to your own success? Do you take
personal responsibility for your success? Are you willing to
seek out the answers you need? Will you develop and commit to a
daily/weekly business plan? No business is successful without
one!
