Don't Underestimate Your 5 Year Success Potential

We tend to Overestimate what we can accomplish in 1 year, and WAY underestimate what we will accomplish in 5 years. I believe this is why there is such a high failure rate in Network Marketing.

 

We don’t get our goals, we get our habits. This has been proven time and time again. Ask anybody who’s ever “made it“ and they’ll tell you that it basically comes down to good habits.

 

Not always being the best, not always being the smartest, but truly engaging in good habits and actions day in and day out, whether we feel like it or not.

 

We tend to Overestimate what we can accomplish in 1 year, and WAY underestimate what we will accomplish in 5 years. I believe this is why there is such a high failure rate in Network Marketing.

 

We launch our business, or think about it, anyway, and we have high hopes and dreams.

 

We are going to do this…

 

and this….

 

and talk to suzy Q….

 

And talk to…….

 

And we are sure we will be a six figure earner in the first year.

 

However, for most, there are a lot of obstacles to be conquered along the way.

 

Mostly in our mindset and thinking.

 

 

We must take time to learn and master The network marketing business fundamentals.

 

The skillsets and mindsets that create success.

 

Why tiny changes make a big difference

 

Success best happens by a commitment to a strategy of constant and never ending improvement. Note that I didn’t say massive improvement in a short amount of time.

 

The key is slight edge mentality, marginal gains over time.

 

The principal comes from the idea that you can break everything down into small processes that you can then improve on.

 

Here is why small habits make a big difference

 

It’s easy to over estimate the importance of making radical changes right now and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis; we convince ourselves that massive success requires massive action.

 

When we focus on losing weight, we’re focused on losing it as fast as we can.

 

We focus on building a business, we look at others and we hear their success stories, we think there’s something wrong with us if we are not $1 million earners at the end of the first year.

 

We want to write a book, but we have no idea how to chunk it down into small pieces that allow us to have great success.

 

It’s far more meaningful in the long run when you focus on small noticeable changes. Not so much noticeable day in day out but at the end of the month the improvements we make overtime can be astounding

 

Focusing on an improvement of getting one percent better each day for a year means you’ll end up 37 times better by the time you’re done at the end of that year.

1.01 to the 365 power = 37.78

1.01 x 1.01 x 1.01...

 

The problem is we most often don’t have patience to deal with this type of compound interest, the kind that gives us the self improvement over time.

 

We practice that habit for one or two days, don’t see any visible results, and we throw the towel in.

 

It’s only looking back over time when we see the value of good habits, we see the cost of the bad ones.

 

You save a little bit of money today and you’re still not a millionaire at the end of the month. You get frustrated.

 

Go to the gym for three days in a row, we’re still out of shape at the end of the three days, we throw in the towel.

 

The slight piece of transformation makes it easy to let a bad habit slide. And to give up on a good habit.

 

Habits can work both ways so we have to be careful, bad habits can bring you down just as good habits can build you up.

 

Understanding these details is critical. You must know how habits work and how to design them to best serve you so you can avoid the negative side of habits.

 

Breakthrough moments really aren’t breakthroughs at all. They’re simply the result of previous actions, which build up the potential required to create that major change, that major transformation that you’re looking for.

 

You can look around you and see that this pattern shows up everywhere. The bamboo shoot can hardly be seen for the first five years as it builds an extensive root system;  pretty soon it explodes 90 feet in the air within six weeks.

 

Because we live in a society that’s based around instant gratification, the process of building solid habits often doesn’t last.

 

People make small changes, fail to see a big results and then decide to stop. You start thinking I’ve been running every day for a month so I can’t see a change in my body. So I’m going to quit.

 

When this kind of thinking takes over it’s super easy to let those good habits fall by the wayside. So you’ve got to continue with your habits long enough to break through the plateau that most of us experience in the beginning.

 

If you find yourself struggling to build a good habit or break a bad one it’s not because of you. It’s not because you don’t have the ability to improve. It’s simply because you haven’t stuck with it long enough to begin to see that visible change.

 

So I’m gonna shake things up just a little bit and say forget about your goals, and focus on systems, systems for success.

 

Systems equal success in Network Marketing.

 

All big things come from small beginnings.

 

I have a goal to keep my body in good physical shape, to have tone defined muscles, and to be what I like to call sculpted.

 

On any given day when I work out I’m not gonna see a huge difference. But about 3 years ago, I committed to a 15 to 30 minute workout every single day.

 

I wasn’t focused on lifting super heavy weights I was focus much more on slow concise movements using mostly my bodyweight using doing exercises that I could do anywhere, in a hotel room, in an airport even, and certainly in my own home.

 

And I focused on watching the results unfold over time I stopped looking in the mirror, stopped weighing myself for a time and simply focused on checking the box every single day for committing to and finishing that 15 to 30 minute workout.

 

The results have been amazing. I simply love the way my body feels and the way it looks now. The definition in my muscles and the healthier way that I feel.

 

I’m no longer focused on perfection, or measuring myself up against the carefully photoshopped, filtered images on Instagram.

 

Understanding the difference between goals versus systems. Goals are what you want to accomplish, systems are the way to get you there.

 

I can’t really define it any more simply than that. The Goal is what you want to achieve at the end of it, and the systems are those habits; those actions that you put in a place every day to get you ultimately to the goal.

 

Could you achieve a goal without even setting the goal simply by engaging in your systems? Yes, I fully believe that you could and can and will.

 

Let’s think about this, achievers and non achievers typically have the same goals.

 

The difference is that setting the goal is only one piece of it.

 

Actually achieving the goal is going to require action to be taken beyond just setting the goal.

 

The difference between achievers and non achievers typically is that they don’t have the same systems in place. They don’t focus on those daily actions that are required to achieve that goal.

 

If you’re having problems changing your habits, the problem isn’t necessarily you. It’s more in your systems.

 

What we wanna do is we want to begin to look at your system; break the system down see what’s working; what’s not working and ultimately re-engineer the system if we need to.

 

You don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.

 

How habits shape our identity and vice versa?

 

Why is it so easy to repeat bad habits and so hard to form good ones?

 

My opinion this all comes down to our thoughts, or thinking, and our feelings around the word habits, the word bad habits and what it takes to invoke good habits.

 

We’ve been conditioned to want instant gratification, and to focus on what feels good in the moment.

 

This is what makes it feel difficult to keep good habits going for more than a few days, with true effort. Habits like exercise, journaling, meditation, eating healthy and certainly doing the actions required in our Network Marketing business seem reasonable for a day or two and then we often begin to look at them as a hassle.

 

The goal is just to establish those habits into our daily routine.

 

Find a way to make them fun, meaningful, and something that we actually look forward to and don’t see a such a big huge grind in our life.

 

Honestly whether it’s fitness faith or finance, that could be building your business, the habits that you need to be successful don’t require a whole lot of time on a daily basis.

 

They require a well-thought-out plan, and then executing on that plan, but it doesn’t mean that you have to be in massive action every single day.

 

We often try to change the wrong thing when it comes to changing our habits so let’s talk about that one.

 

It’s our behaviors that ultimately need changed in order to change our habits so we might be thinking about changing the wrong thing ultimately we want to change the outcome right we want to lose weight we want to build that successful business we would have a better of faith practice.
